Compare a mock-question result with a user-chosen practice threshold without inventing an official minimum passing score.
Keep the mock format comparable
Count scored questions consistently. If your practice includes constructed responses, use the provider’s documented marks instead of treating each response as a simple correct or incorrect question.
How the calculation works
Accuracy = min(correct answers, attempted questions) ÷ positive question count × 100. Threshold count = ceiling(question count × user threshold fraction). Additional correct answers = max(threshold count − correct answers, 0).
A worked example
One hundred twenty-six correct answers out of 180 gives 70% accuracy. A chosen 75% practice threshold requires 135 correct answers, so the arithmetic gap is nine answers.
Use thresholds for planning rather than reassurance
Try several practice targets to see how sensitive the gap is to your assumption. Then review the topics behind incorrect answers. A guessed threshold cannot establish readiness for the actual examination.
What the result leaves out
The threshold is hypothetical and user supplied. This does not estimate the official CFA minimum passing score, grade constructed responses or predict passing at any level. Do not compare percentage-correct results across materially different mock formats.

The defaults are constructed examples, not market benchmarks. Keep a copy of the records and assumptions behind your result so you can repeat the comparison after the next reporting period.
