NCLEX Practice Scores: Compare Results by Topic

← Business Guides · Explore study planning

Compare three practice topic results and calculate incorrect answers without claiming adaptive exam readiness.

Keep topic samples distinct

Assign each question to one topic so the same result is not counted twice. Use the same treatment of partial credit throughout; this simple correct-answer model is unsuitable when a provider’s score uses a different rubric.

How the calculation works

Each topic accuracy = capped correct count ÷ positive attempted count × 100. Combined accuracy = all capped correct answers ÷ all attempted questions × 100. Incorrect answers = attempted total − correct total. The combined average weights topics by question count.

A worked example

Topic results of 26/40, 24/30 and 40/50 give 90 correct out of 120: 75% overall, with 30 incorrect answers. Topic A is 65%; topics B and C are each 80%.

Review errors before adding questions

A low topic accuracy can reflect a small or unusually hard set. Read rationales, identify repeated reasoning errors and use a fresh comparable set to check improvement. The model summarizes your practice records only.

What the result leaves out

No adaptive algorithm, official NCLEX passing standard or clinical competence is evaluated. Choose your own topic labels and review actual questions. Accuracy alone cannot establish readiness or safe practice.

The defaults are constructed examples, not market benchmarks. Keep a copy of the records and assumptions behind your result so you can repeat the comparison after the next reporting period.
