Study Aid Preparation: Estimate Reading, Production and Review Time

← Business Guides · Explore study planning

Budget preparation and review time for turning study notes into a shorter presentation or narrated study aid.

Price selection before production

A concise study aid requires choosing what to omit as well as what to keep. Time a few representative pages before estimating the whole source. Dense tables and diagrams may need a separate allowance.

How the calculation works

Preparation hours = source pages × reading minutes per page ÷ 60 + outline/script hours + recording/assembly hours + checking/revision hours. Whole preparation days = ceiling(total hours ÷ positive daily capacity).

A worked example

Thirty pages at three minutes each need 1.5 hours of selection. Add two scripting hours, 1.5 assembly hours and one checking hour for six hours total. At 1.5 hours per day, preparation needs four days.

Protect time for learning itself

Preparing attractive material can consume the time intended for practice and recall. Set a preparation limit and compare it with a simpler outline. Reserve study and testing time separately from production work.

What the result leaves out

This does not convert files into video, assess ADHD or provide medical guidance. The estimate is a workload plan; a different learning format may or may not help you. Copyright permission and factual checking are separate responsibilities.

The defaults are constructed examples, not market benchmarks. Keep a copy of the records and assumptions behind your result so you can repeat the comparison after the next reporting period.
