How this calculator works

Unmatched instances = reviewed citation instances − capped matched instances. Match percentage = matched instances ÷ positive reviewed instances × 100. Resolution time = unmatched instances × minutes per instance ÷ 60.

Worked example

Sixty-eight matched instances out of 80 gives 85% coverage, with 12 unmatched instances. At five minutes each, the resolution estimate is one hour. Multiple instances can point to the same missing source and may take less time when resolved together.

Assumptions

Defaults are illustrative. Replace them with your own measured quantities and documented assumptions. Use matching periods and a consistent currency wherever monetary amounts are entered.

Interpreting your results

This does not scan a document, detect plagiarism or validate citation style. Matching a reference does not prove quotation accuracy or appropriate attribution. Counts come from your manual review; follow the required style and academic rules.

Frequently asked questions

What should I check before using the result?

An instance is one occurrence in the text, not one unique source. Check that the source can be located from the reference entry. Record repeated unmatched sources so you can fix related instances together.

Does this tool connect to my records?

No. This is a local calculation from the figures you enter. It does not scan accounts, import private records or verify legal, regulatory or exam requirements.
