How this calculator works

Remaining questions = total questions − capped completed questions. Time left = max(time limit − elapsed minutes, 0). Required pace = remaining seconds ÷ positive remaining questions. Original even pace = total permitted seconds ÷ positive total questions.

Worked example

In a user-selected 21-question, 45-minute set, finishing 12 questions after 28 minutes leaves nine questions and 17 minutes. Required remaining pace is 113.33 seconds per question; the original even pace was 128.57 seconds.

Assumptions

Defaults are illustrative. Replace them with your own measured quantities and documented assumptions. Use matching periods and a consistent currency wherever monetary amounts are entered.

Interpreting your results

The set size and time limit are user inputs, not a statement of current exam rules. No GMAT adaptive score or scaled-score conversion is simulated. Even pacing is a planning reference, not a strategy for every question.

Frequently asked questions

What should I check before using the result?

Enter the actual count and time allowance from that set. Do not include breaks in elapsed working time unless the practice limit includes them. A completed count greater than total is capped and should be corrected.

Does this tool connect to my records?

No. This is a local calculation from the figures you enter. It does not scan accounts, import private records or verify legal, regulatory or exam requirements.
