Compare the same group of invoices

Measure failure and recovery by payment value over the same recovery window. Count each invoice once. Separate an initial payment failure from a permanently unrecovered balance.

Count the improvement, then subtract the cost

Use the difference between current and target recovery, then subtract additional fees and fixed costs. A recovery target below current performance should remain visible as a negative change. Recovered cash and contribution profit are different measures.
